The Art of Conservation Study
Inspiration + Technique
Inspired by English author Beatrix Potter
Technique
The Art of Conservation Study was created by constructing a hand-cut collage using female photographic portraiture, photographs and illustrations of flower specimens, animals, butterflies and birds referenced from characters in her books. After coating the handmade paper and watercolour sheets with light-sensitive chemistry, they are left to dry in a dark room. The large scale negatives are then contact printed onto the paper by exposing to daylight (UV rays).
The prints are then processed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution. It can then be hung to dry, developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours. Once dried the individual component parts are cut out and mounted onto the print to create a multi-layered, 3-dimensional artwork.

Beatrix Potter
The timeless art of cyanotype printmaking
Cyanotypes, often referred to as 'blueprints', harness the power of sunlight to capture intricate designs and forms.
This age-old technique involves treating paper with a specific chemical concoction, placing objects or negatives atop, and then exposing it to sunlight.
The Art of Conservation Study is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation crafted on
handmade paper,
accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.
